Matthew 26: 47-50
47 And even as he said this, Judas, one of the twelve disciples, arrived with a mob that was armed with swords and clubs. They had been sent out by the leading priests and other leaders of the people. 48 Judas had given them a prearranged signal: "You will know which one to arrest when I go over and give him the kiss of greeting." 49 So Judas came straight to Jesus. "Greetings, Teacher!" he exclaimed and gave him the kiss. 50 Jesus said, "My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for."

PSALMS 41:1-13

Even as a Bible College Student I recoiled at using verses from Psalms, Proverbs or Song of Solomon as prophecies. They certainly aren't meant to be taken that way and the clear read of Psalms are simple religious songs usually dealing with the sorrow or joy of the writer. For some reason Christians persist in pulling verses out of everywhere including Psalms to support Christ's messiahship so I guess I'm forced here.

1 For the choir director: A psalm of David. Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor. The LORD rescues them in times of trouble. 2 The LORD protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity and rescues them from their enemies. 3 The LORD nurses them when they are sick and eases their pain and discomfort. 4 "O LORD," I prayed, "have mercy on me. Heal me, for I have sinned against you."

What's this again? "Heal me for I have sinned against you." Oops - either Jesus really wasn't sinless or it doesn't refer to him.

5 But my enemies say nothing but evil about me. "How soon will he die and be forgotten?" they ask. 6 They visit me as if they are my friends, but all the while they gather gossip, and when they leave, they spread it everywhere. 7 All who hate me whisper about me, imagining the worst for me. 8 "Whatever he has, it is fatal," they say. "He will never get out of that bed!" 9 Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me. 10 LORD, have mercy on me. Make me well again, so I can pay them back! 11 I know that you are pleased with me, for you have not let my enemy triumph over me. 12 You have preserved my life because I am innocent; you have brought me into your presence forever. 13 Bless the LORD, the God of Israel, who lives forever from eternal ages past. Amen and amen!

So - did Jesus sin against God? Was Jesus struck in bed with an illness that everyone hoped he wouldn't recover from? Did Jesus ask to be made well from his illness so he can pay back the people who betrayed him? Did God preserve his life?

Really - this is JUST a song including a verse about a friend's betrayal. This is no more a prophecy of Jesus then Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar". There is no reference in this Psalm about these events happening to "The Son of God", "The King of the Jews", "The Word" - it just happens to some sick guy.
